Privacy Policy

This policy describes what LedgerCrossing ("we," "us") collects when you use ledgercrossing.com and the LedgerCrossing desktop application, why we collect it, and who we share it with. We sell software, not data — we do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.

What we collect on the website

Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors find and use the site (pages viewed, approximate location, device type, and the campaign or search that brought you here). Google acts as our processor; see Google's privacy policy. Analytics data is retained for up to 14 months.

Attribution cookie. On your first visit we set one first-party cookie (lc_attr, expires after 90 days) recording how you arrived: the landing page, the referring site, and any campaign identifiers in the URL (such as utm_ parameters or ad-click IDs like gclid). If you buy, that information is stored with your order so we know which channel earned the sale. It contains no personal information and is never shared with advertisers.

Contact form. Name, email address, and your message — used only to reply to you.

"How did you hear about us?" If you answer the optional question after purchase, your answer is stored with your order.

What we collect when you buy

Payments are processed by Stripe; your card number never touches our servers. We store the order details Stripe returns to us: your email address, name (if provided), the amount, and a payment reference. We use Resend to send your receipt and license key by email.

What the desktop application sends us

The LedgerCrossing app periodically validates your license: it sends your license key and a machine fingerprint (a one-way hash derived from hardware identifiers — not your files, not your QuickBooks data) to our license server. Your accounting data stays on your machine. We cannot see your QuickBooks company files, and the app makes no other calls home.

If you subscribe to LedgerCrossing Remote, the app additionally retrieves relay credentials from us, and your integration traffic passes through a relay tunnel operated with our infrastructure provider ngrok. Relay traffic is encrypted end to end; enabling Remote is entirely optional and local-only remains the default.

Infrastructure

The site and license server are hosted on Railway; DNS and network services are provided by Cloudflare. Like most hosts, they process IP addresses and request logs on our behalf.

Your choices and rights

• Cookies: you can block or delete cookies in your browser; the site works without them.
• Analytics: you can block Google Analytics with any content blocker — the site works fine.
• Access or deletion: email us and we'll show you or delete what we hold about you, subject to records we must keep (like tax and payment records).
• We serve customers in the United States and Canada.

Changes

We'll update this page when our practices change and adjust the effective date above. Material changes affecting existing customers will be announced by email.
